Time to go

Well good morning to you ,

Well my visit is over and it is time to get on the road. I did get a lot done while I was here. I got five raised veggie beds made and or ready to use. On the way out I will stop by and pick my other daughter then head south to the Carrie Mechile.

This week I have a lot to do. I have to get the gussets in place and fiberglassed in and be ready for the motors. I have to get all the control cables and the wiring harness down too. So it looks like I will be busy for a day or two. In order for me to get the gussets in, I have to remove all the tanks from the basement and then reinstall them. Wow! What a job to redo that. Well yu just don't know how things will work out sometimes, that is why I'm removing them so I can get the gussets in there places. Well that's how it goes sometimes.

Well I hope all has a good day and that you will be blessed. Until the next post here a wonderful day,
Harold

Flower beds

Well good morning to all.All things here or a go (lol) I still will be working on the raised beds here at my daughters house. I have to finish up today cause tomorrow Will be going over to my other daughters hose for the day and head back to the Carried Michelle and start my week out. This week I will consecrate on the guessit and then move on to something else. Other then that all is well. Have relley enjoyed my visit even those Icon not do that hevey work lie I use to. I guess that comes with the age thing.

It sure feels good to take a day or two off from the Carried Michelle. This way it breaks the rutine and makes the days go by easier. Anyway I am looking forward to getting back and start working back on the boat. The best thing now is I am way on the downhill side of the work. I am thinking that I will have her in the water some time next month and start testing out everything on the boat.

Well unfit next posting have a great day,

Trip was nice

Good morning to all. Well yesterday I had a great drive to my daughters house. It could not have been any better weather then it was. Nice and clear,no rain just good weather.

Yesterday after I got here we went to this place called Jimmy Johnson and had lunch and was it in good. This place is a sandwich shop and the dressing is what makes the sandwich. I had there 0#11 witch has turkey, ham,two types of chess, and the lettuce tomato thing, plus sprouts and it was good.

After 8eatting wee went to Clowes and bought 48 landscape timbers so I Gould build her flower beds. We also got 64 bags of potting soil, good thing it was on sale. So today I will get it cut up and maybe start putting them together sometime today. Other then that I think I will be busy for today.

I would like to ask you to pray for my son in laws family as his brother had a Massey stroke Wednesday morning and he has been in a coma ever since and it looks like there is no hope there either. So I ask to keep him in your prayers.

Until next posting have a great day and may God bless you,
Harold

I have been

Good morning to all. Well we or in for some ruff weather here in So.Texas today. The red flag is out for today which means the wind gust will be over thirty miles per hour. Well we really need the rain but we do not need all the wind. But sometimes the wind comes with the rain so it is a trade off.

Well I have been blessed these past few days. Like I meet this guy and his wife and was talking to them about what I was doing. I told them about how I was rebuilding the Carrie Michelle and they thought it was neat. Well the next thing I new they were here to look at the boat. They looked at it and was really impressed with it and wanted my blog address and then here came the blessing. They had an boat they were parting out and wanted to know what I told them. So the blessing poured out then , they gave a windless winch that cost over1,200. when it was new, but it was in great shape. I also got a fly bridge windshield with its frame, and the last thing was  just get what ever you can use they said. So that was my blessing.

Well today will be a good day I  am hoping to get a bit done due to I am going to my daughters for the weekend. so for the next few days I will be on the road and will not be doing anything on the Carrie Michelle.

Until next posting have a great day,
Harold

Gussetts or made

Funny looking sky
Well good morning to all. Yesterday was pretty good on the Carrie Michelle as I got all the gussets made and ready to be installed into place. Frist thing that I have to do is to remove all the tanks so I can get them installed and fiber glassed into place. Hopefully this will be the last time that all the tanks need to be removed. But all this was created when we modified the mounting brackets. That is ok cause it will all work out for the best.

I also finished up mounting the new antenna by mounting the stand off braked. So that was about it for yesterday and today I will start removing the tanks.
So that is it until posting,
Harold

What a good week here

Will the week finished up on an upswing. Just had one bad day and that was taking Shirley to the airport. But all things happen for a reason so they say and it has happen here. I got my other motor today and it is already in the shop getting checked out. Do not want any troubles down the road or should I say done the rivers. So now I have a pair of Evinrude 130's to cruse with So that should move me right on down the water ways, what a blessing it was to get them. The best thing they were under budget also and that really was a blessing

Well today was a good day, like I said got the other motor and it is in the shop getting checked out and a new water pump installed in it.

Radio on fly bridge
I did mange to get the fly bridge radio installed, wired, and tested out. It works loud and clear as to a tug caption.

New Antenna
In stalled the new antenna that came in this morning, tomorrow I will hook it up to the helm radio and see what happens.
Fuel filter housing
After the antenna installation I installed two fuel filter housing.

Fly bridge gauges
This afternoon I installed new gauges on the fly bridge consol. That was about it for today. Until next posting have a great eveningHarold

Good Day Here

Well good evening to all,
Well today was a fairly good day here on the Carrie Michelle. I got one of the radios installed completely with antenna and wired up. I did manage to talk to a couple of tug boat captain's and got the oke doke on the radio. That's means it was loud and clear ( lol ).

The main thing that got done today was I got the motor over to the shop to start the rebuild on it. Also the welder should be thru with the motor mounting brackets ( I hope ).Tomorrow should be a pretty good day here. I am hoping that I can get the gussets done and the stiff back installed also.

Also today one of my antennas came in too, along with a Tech, and two key switches. So as for as something to do I still have plenty to do, it just depends on witch way I turn is to where I start. So therefore I am not short on work here.
Harbor Shot

Well until next posting have a great day,
Harold

I have a motor

Wow! What a great day it was yesterday. The welder came and started on the motor mounts and that job is under way now. He should be thru sometime today. What a blessing it will be.

The best thing that could have happen did. A blessing fro God was drop on me yesterday and what a blessing it was. The blessing was I got my first motor yesterday and have a prospect on another one today. So this morning My good friend Wesley and I or going to go and look at it. It just shows all things happen for a reason and we can not control them. I have been waiting to sale my motor home so I could buy the motors and that has not happen yet, But I took Shirley to the airport yesterday morning cause she said this boat life was not for her which is understandable for she is close to her kids, but I am sorry it wound up that way. Then yesterday morning I get this call about this motor and Wesley and I go and look and it and bingo it is in the back of my truck now. So hopefully the welder finishes up today and we can mount the motor.

So that is my good news for today. Until next posting have a blessed day,
Harold

Sad Day Here

Well good morning to all,

Well it is a sad morning here at the Carrie Michelle. I just got back from taking Shirley to the airport so she could go back home. The boat life was not for her she said. There might have been more to like being away from her kids , who knows. She wanted to go back home and so that she did. I do not think she gave it a fair shot but that is what she wanted to do. We will continue to do our thing here and get the Carrie Michelle ready to move on, life is to short to look back just have to keep moving forward. Anyway things will be OK here.

Well yesterday we finished mount all the cleats and got another coat of bottom paint on the transom also.I also started to get my radios mounted and wired in place. So for today I will just keep moving on.

Until posting have a great day,
Harold

Little bit done yesterday

Well good morning to all,
Today looks like it is going to be a beautiful day here in South Texas. The weather bug is saying somewhere around eighty degrees, Wow a day it will be in mid February and eighty degrees. Well that is the way it goes here. I think it is suppose to rain next week. Well on with the game plan.

Well yesterday I got some cleats mounted back on that were missing and what a job one of then was. It was back up under the dash board and had a hell of time getting in screwed down. But it all worked out. Also got two radios and will get them mounted and in  there place. I Will also order another antenna today .

Chicken Fajitas
Well, broke in our new table last night with a Chicken Fajitas supper and it sure was good too with some good old flour tortillas. Along with the hot sauce too. Other then that, that was about if for the day. Today will be a busy day cause I am going to mount a gusset and install a ridge back on the transom. Also I have two bilge pumps to finish running the drain hose to them. So it looks like a busy day for me. Well I guess I need to get started and see how much I can get done today.

Until next posting have a great day,
Harold

Table and Chairs
I did manage to put together these table and chairs and get them up on the back deck of the boat. Other then that work on the Carrie Michelle was pretty slim. Due to it being Valentines day. We did managed to go out and eat and do a little site seeing

Well today starts a new week here at the boat so we will start on some new things. So staw tuned and see what we have started on today.
Until next post have a great day,

I hope all of you have a wonderful day and may y'all be blessed in your on way. Well back to the Carrie Michelle.

Yesterday was a pretty good productive day foe me here on the Carrie Michelle, I managed to get a few things done and that is a few less things that I will have to do. Frist of all I finished the flag pole, all the lights or on it and it is completely wired up and working.

Flag Pole

Bumpers in Rack
I finley got one of the bumper racks mounted after having them a while. With the rack there will be no need to hang them over ,they can stacy in the rack until needed.
Toaster oven
I also managed to get the electrical ran for the over. Shirley even made me some fresh corn bread for supper last night and it sure was good too. It sure beats that Jiffy corn bread mix in a box.
Gauges
I also got some of the motor gages cut in too. Being there are two motors you need two of each one. There or two gas gages and two water pressure gages mounted for now. I have the tacks, water temps. and the speed o meter on order, so I will install them when they come in( next week I hope ).

Chart Plotter
This is the last thing I got done yesterday, was to mount the Chart Plotter. Got it all mounted and the dang sending unit cable was about eleven feet short, so I have order one and it should be here Monday I hope.

Well that is about it for yesterday. Until next posting have a great day,

Great week at the Carrie Michelle

Good evening folks, as I sit here and write this chapter on the blog that all has had a great week as we have. My week started out great with Shirley being here for her first week in Texas. We have done a few things , worked on the boat went out to eat and even found time to do nothing but sit.

Coming up next week we will be getting ready to do the bottom sanding and painting the bottom paint. This little job will just about a all week job, but it is all part of the deal.

Well last night we went over to Corpus and ate and then I took Shrilly to see the harbor bridge at night and what a sight it was, so here some pictures of it

Sun set

Sun Set
Wow! what a sun set this was yesterday. It really looked like the world was on fire. I guess it was getting ready for the great debate ( LOL ) You would out of 300 million people we have here in the U S that they could find someone better the what is running to run this country. It seems like this country is going to hell in a hand basket. You just sit back and see what is going to happen in the next eight years.
C C bridge

CC bridge

t is too.
C C bridge
Just a few shots of the Corpus Christi Harbor bridge. It changes colors about every eight munities. What a beautiful sight it is too. In the shadows of the gray ghost. Anyway we had a great evening and a good supper too. So that was about it for the week

Until next posting have a great one,
Harold

We made it to Port Aranasa

Ready for docking
Well we made it across the Chanel all in one piece .LOL Well the water was very smooth and not much and current flowing. The crossing took about fifteen minutes and we were off to the running. Well Port Aransas is a small port with no shipping , just pleasure boats, and lots of them too. There is a state park  here too.

Out to the Gulf of Mexico
This is the ship going and coming thru Port Aransas. this is the only way for ships to get into the Port of. Corpus Christie. All ships entering this port must have a polit to bring there ship into harbor. Appx 6,000 ships pass thru this channel per year. The Port of Corpus Christie is the eighth largest port in the U.S.

Picture for FOOD
Where is the FOOD
This old bird was a hoot. I could have touch him if I had wanted too. They or not scared of you at all. In fact they will pick your pocket if your not careful, but they or neat to watch and mess with.

Sea Gulls
Sea Gulls or every where you turn around. They or always looking for a hand out of some kind. But they or neat to watch too the way they carry on. This is a shot down the jettes, one side is the gulf and the other side is the ship channel.Well it was getting late and was time to head babc to the Carrie Michelle and get some supper made.

Until next posting have a great day,
Harold

Port Aransas

Well it is morning here in So. Texas and it looks like it is going to be another beautiful day here. Rite it is 5:30 am and it is 60 degree's and it is going to be somewhere around 70 to 75 degree's today with a nice southeast wind.

Well yesterday was a pretty good productive day here at the Carrie Michelle. Shirley did quite a bib rearrange so we both could be comfortable in here. You know with just me here is was a little jammed up cause I had things here and there where ever I was worrying. Well Shirley has got it looking real nice, all it needed was a ladies touch and it changed to whole outlook on the inside. So now we can move around better.

Yesterday I got the door repaired so the glass would not fall out again. We had to remove the door to get the chairs in and one of the glass panels came out. I removed the fly bridge helm chair also so I could replace it with a bench type. With a beach type seat two people could seat at the helm and enjoy the view straight ahead. You know after sitting there for six to eight hours it will be nice to talk to your partner sitting next to you and not have to holler so they can hear you. So that is for the changing out the seat.

Well after working pretty hard yesterday morning and into the early evening , we took off and went to Port Aransas to do some sight seeing.

Drilling dry docked

This is an deep water drilling rig that is in for repairs, this is a huge piece of equipment too. It looks to be about four or five stories or might be more.

Ferry
Well we or to Port Aransas via ferry. It is about a tem minute ride across the water. When we get there we will start our sight seeing trip and you will be able to follow us on my next writing. So until then have a great dau and may you be blessed,
Harold

What a beautiful morning

Well it looks like a great day in the making.

What a sunrise
This is what I am talking about being off to a great start. I need it being I have not worked on the boat since last Thursday and that has put me behind now. That's OK it was well worth it being I picked Shirley in San Antonio and now we or at the boat. It has been six months since I have seen her and it's been along waiting. I do not know who was the happiest to see each other, I think we or going to call it a tie. Now we will move on down the river now.

Chair for the boat
Well we went shopping yesterday for some chairs for the boat. We found two of these at the very first place we went to. Well I thought they were a little on the high side of the dollar scale, so we went off to the city by the sea and shopped. We spent all day there looking in the thrift stores and guess what ? We came back to the very first place and bought them. But not before I jude them down fifty dollars and I thought that was a fair price then. Not bad looking bamboo chairs for what we paid for then.

Aransas Bay
This is a picture of Aransas Bay yesterday and was it calm. There was almost no wind and no ripples on the water. That is what is called a slick. Plus it is not good for fishing either. But it sure makes for a pretty picture and for boating if you care to.

Up and Over

Yes sir up and over the high bridge in Corpus Christie. This bridge is 138 feet tall and 5,818 feet long and carries appx. 26,000 cars and trucks over the harbor per day. It is the only way across the bay and if they have something go wrong then it is a seventy mile trip around to get on the other side.

Downtown CC

This is a shot coming down off the bridge and Corpus Christie is off to the left sitting right on the bay front. So that is it for or shopping trip. Until next posting have a great day,
Harold

Back at the Carrie Michelle

Well good morning to all,

Well we have made it back to the Carrie Michelle. We got back from San Antonio about 11:30 yesterday.

Yelper's Shirley made it into San Antonio at 11:17 central time Saturday morning, almost thirty minutes ahead of  sch. We got her picked up and after being up half the day already Shirley was on the hungry side of life, so we all we to this hamburger joint called In- and -Out and they or so so hamburgers. Well after the feast we all were sorta kinda tird so we went back to my daughters house and to a nap. after everybody waking we just sat around and had a BS section.

Saturdays Supper
Saturday night for supper my daughter fixed this lemon chicken and it was some good too. With it she had mashed cauliflower and some type of green bean dish. The green beans had red bell peppers, almonds and mushrooms along with seasonings. After supper we sat around and talked a while and then off to bed.

Well it is Sunday morning and it is clod here like 28 I think that is what my phone says. All I know it is cold. We or waiting for it to warm up a bit then we are taking Shirley down to the River Walk in downtown San Antonio and let her see the Alamo and other places of interest.

The Alamo
This is the front of the Alamo. I think this is the #1 attraction in San Antonio besides the River Walk. Every body wants to see the Alamo and it is understanding why. You will have to see it to see why , it is to hard to explain it so you could understand it.

Barge on the San Antonio River
This is the # 2 attraction in San Antonio the river walk. Back in the forty's they routed the river thru town to help control the flooding and then the business people decided to make a tourist trap out of it and they DID TOO.
International Square
This is the International Square were all the Mexican trade comes into town. They also have a great eating places there too called MiTerra's.

Shirley and I waiting on our food
Shirley's Taco Salad
Well that is about it for San Antonio,Tx

Until next posting have a great day and a bless one too,
Harold

Made it to San Antonio

Well its Friday afternoon about 6 p m and I have made it to San Antonio. This has been a good week working on the Carrie Michelle. I got all the plumbing hard part now I got my flagpole wired. The next step his making the motor mounts and after that we will be putting her in the water and start doing the testing. I do have one problem with a shower leaking so when I get back will cut the bottom out and replace it.

The reason I'm in San Antonio, Shirley will be coming in Saturday morning. We would spend the weekend with my daughter hopefully the weather be okay with go to the Riverwalk and eat some good old Mexican food like cabrito. And there will just chill out so that will be it for the weekend. Until the next posting have a great and blessed day, Herald

What a week it was

Well good morning to all.

This past week has been a real busy week for me. I am running out of time to get everything done that I have wanted to be done with. Shirley will be here this weekend and I want it to be ready and set up like a house. That is how I want it.

This past week I rebuilt the galley for the third time and now it is set up the way it should be. We got a toaster oven to use for an oven and a two burner cook top that uses propane. Buy doing this it saved me over a hundred dollars and I was able to buy other things that was needed. I also got one gusset made and installed in it's place , three to go now. Besides that we unbolted the swim platform and sealed all the bolt holes with 3M 5200 adhesive and what a messy job it was. That will take a load off some of the small wire that was used.

I also got the power supply ran up to the fly bridge and got it all hooked up. This week I hope I can get the new power cables installed  to the battery banks. There is still some wiring that needs to be done too.

The last thing that I got done this past week was to put the drains from the kitchen sink, lavatory, and shower in hard pipe to the gray water holding tank. The age of this boat did not require holding tanks in it's day. Today you just can not dump it anywhere so therefore I installed an holding tank with a pump just in case I could make it to a dump station.

The last thing that I got done was to paint the boot strip and that finished up my week on the Carrie Michelle.

Until next posting have a great day,
Harold
